The Eiffel Tower – The Symbol of France

People would think of the Eiffel Tower once mentioning Paris. It is the symbol of Paris, and is built for the World Expo held in Paris. 1887 the construction of the Eiffel Tower started. It has a height of 320 meters, occupying an area of 1 square meters. Standing on four cement pillars, it has a steel body. 300 workers use 2.5 million rivets riveted 18 thousand metal parts together in 2 years, and the weight is 7000 tons. The weight will reach 9757 tons if the weight of the television aerial and the base is added. This architecture cost 7.46 million francs to build. The designer of the Eiffel Tower is the world-renowned architect Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, so the tower got its name. It is not only the highest architecture in France, but also a big tourist attraction.

Called as the shepherdess in the clouds, this tower shows in all kinds of magazines, postcards, and TV programs. It has an elegant shape. It has three floors, and the first floor is on the height of 57 meters. Four arch doors of steel and cement were built here. The second floor is as high as 115 meters; the third floor is 276 meters. You get a bird view of the whole Paris when standing on the third floor. What you can see are the Notre Dame, the Champs Elysees, and Arc de Triomphe.
